Brand

New Works was founded by Nikolaj Meier and Knut Bendik Humlevik with the vision of creating a design studio where every product is crafted with care, intention and a desire to explore new creative expressions. Whilst Nikolaj oversees the company’s operations as CEO, Knut leads the creative direction as Creative Director. Together with a dedicated team, they develop a collection of unique yet accessible design objects for the modern home.

New Works operates at the intersection of old and new, light and dark, design and art. The brand draws inspiration from the strong Scandinavian tradition of craftsmanship and material expertise, whilst challenging conventional forms through contemporary design. Through collaborations with internationally recognised designers and craftspeople, products are created that combine sculptural expression with honest and genuine materials.

The core of New Works’ philosophy is based on four fundamental values:

Naturalness

New Works values the inherent properties of materials and places them at the centre of the design process. From the strength of marble to the warmth of oak, the unique character and natural beauty of each material are celebrated.

A spirit of experimentation

Through close collaboration with designers and craftspeople who share a passion for detail, New Works constantly explores new forms, materials and textures. The result is a contemporary design language that pushes the boundaries between art and function.

Tactility

Design is not just to be seen – it is to be experienced. New Works creates products that invite touch and sensory experiences. The natural rawness and authenticity of the materials are preserved to highlight their genuine character and expression.

Craft

By combining Scandinavian craft traditions with techniques from around the world, products are created where materials and form come together in new ways. Each object bears traces of the craftsman’s skill and tells its own story.

The New Works collection comprises furniture, lighting and interior details characterised by timeless aesthetics, high quality and a balance between the bold and the sensual. The brand continues to develop its design world by creating objects that both inspire and enrich everyday life.
