Karl-Johan Pendant Lamp Ø23 Smoked Glass

The Karl-Johan pendant lamp by New Works, designed by Signe Hytte, draws its softly rounded silhouette from the shape of a mushroom cap – a quietly poetic nod to nature. Stripped of the material combinations found in its table and wall lamp predecessors, the mouth-blown glass globe takes the spotlight entirely, filled with warm, even light from a compact built-in LED source. Pure, purposeful, and unmistakably Nordic.

New Works was founded by Nikolaj Meier and Knut Bendik Humlevik with the vision of creating a design studio where every product is crafted with care, intention and a desire to explore new creative expressions. Whilst Nikolaj oversees the company’s operations as CEO, Knut leads the creative direction as Creative Director. Together with a dedicated team, they develop a collection of unique yet accessible design objects for the modern home.

New Works operates at the intersection of old and new, light and dark, design and art. The brand draws inspiration from the strong Scandinavian tradition of craftsmanship and material expertise, whilst challenging conventional forms through contemporary design. Through collaborations with internationally recognised designers and craftspeople, products are created that combine sculptural expression with honest and genuine materials.
