How to find the right furniture for your home

Start with the room, not the furniture. Measure the space and think about how you move through it. Around a dining table you need about 80–100 cm of free space so the chairs can be pulled out comfortably, and 40–50 cm between sofa and coffee table is about right. Then choose materials based on how you live. Solid wood such as oak and teak ages beautifully and stands up to everyday wear, and durable, easy-care fabrics are a safe choice for sofas and armchairs in homes with children or pets. Feel free to mix styles and brands: a Scandinavian sofa paired with a marble coffee table or a rattan armchair creates a home with personality. And invest in the pieces you use the most. A good sofa, a sturdy dining table and a comfortable bed are where you'll feel the difference every single day.
