Responsible wood – care at every stage
At Hulténs, we are committed to offering furniture that lasts – not only in terms of style and quality, but also in terms of how it affects people and the environment. That is why all our teak and wood furniture is certified and comes from approved, responsibly managed plantations.
We work primarily with wood species such as teak from Indonesia – a country with a long tradition of solid craftsmanship and woodworking. Many of our suppliers have worked with us for many years and are carefully selected for their focus on sustainable production, fair conditions and high quality.
We comply with the EU Timber Regulation – one of Europe's strictest pieces of legislation
Hulténs and our partners comply with the Swedish application of the EU Timber Regulation, which is designed to combat trade in illegally harvested timber. This means that all the wood in our furniture must be traceable all the way from harvesting to import into the EU – a guarantee that the wood does not come from protected forests or unsustainable sources.
In Sweden, the Swedish Forest Agency is responsible for supervision and carries out regular checks on companies that handle wood products. Hulténs has been audited on several occasions and works actively to ensure that we meet all requirements.

Certified wood from sustainable forests – FSC® and FLEGT
In addition to complying with legislation, we only work with suppliers who can demonstrate approved certifications. Our furniture is usually FSC® certified – a globally recognised system that guarantees that the wood comes from forests that are managed in an environmentally friendly, socially responsible and economically sustainable manner. In some cases, we also use FLEGT-licensed wood, which is an EU initiative that ensures legal harvesting and export from countries outside the EU.
Regardless of the certification used, you can rest assured that every piece of furniture you buy from us is manufactured with respect for natural resources, local communities and future generations.
